You Don’t Have to Hold It All Alone Anymore
As a queer person living in today's world, you're feeling depleted, discouraged, or full-on rage-y. You're exploring your gender identity while navigating depression or anxiety — and making space for your own emotions feels impossible when everything feels uncertain, overwhelming, or unsafe. You're searching for LGBTQ+ affirming therapy in California that doesn't just tolerate your identity but celebrates your queerness, your weirdness, your grief, and your joy. You deserve a queer therapist who truly gets it — someone who sees you, validates you, and makes room for all of who you are.
Your Change to Shine
Working at your pace, we'll build a safer, affirming space for LGBTQ+ individuals to explore thoughts and feelings that feel too heavy to carry alone. Political rants, absurdist humor, and unhinged venting are all welcome. I bring a warm, human, and relationship-centered approach to queer-affirming therapy, using humor and creativity to support your healing.
Relief and Action
You are capable of deep connection — with yourself, with others, and with community. Together, we'll strengthen your sense of security in your queer identity and expand your comfort expressing who you are, building toward richer relationships and a grounded sense of self. We'll work to quiet self-critical and ruminating thoughts, grow self-compassion, and develop actionable tools for managing depression, anxiety, and the particular weight that comes with navigating the world as a queer or trans person.
Queer Mental Health & Social Justice
A passion for social justice and a belief in care and compassion as acts of resistance brought me to mental health work. Over ten years, I've worked across community social services in a wide range of roles, supporting clients in navigating complex systems and institutions. I pursued my Master of Social Work (MSW) to deepen my clinical skills in LGBTQ+ mental health, gender-affirming care, and social justice-informed therapy.
Today, I specialize in working with queer, trans, nonbinary, and marginalized communities — supporting folks navigating internal struggles alongside the very real weight of systemic oppression, political stress, and identity-based trauma.
I have a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Cal State Sacramento and am a LCSW #136165 under my given name Jenny Nigro with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, offering therapy to clients throughout California.
How I indulge in life outside of therapy
I’m a queer, trans, agender introvert who is most likely to be found in my rocking chair on the porch, attempting to lure the neighborhood stray cats with treats. I also enjoy creating stained glass art, cooking vegetarian meals, and watching terrible reality tv. I once went on a hike with a llama in the woods, bonded with the llama, and realized that my life goals may involve opening a llama therapy center.
