Your Brain Is Exhausted. Let's Change That.
The world is burning — and your brain isn't much better off. The “queer joy everyone” talks about has never paid you a visit. Even surrounded by loved ones, you're caught in a cycle of comparison always tipping toward a shame spiral. Self-doubt and negative self-talk pull you under until you go numb and disconnected, just to survive.
The odds have been stacked against you: family trauma, deep discomfort with intimacy, and an unmentionable chapter of conversion therapy. But you are not irreparably broken. You need support to make sense of the mess and build something new — to make your own head a more pleasant place to be.
From Surviving to Thriving: What LGBTQ+ Therapy Can Build
Once you confront your past, you'll begin to feel safe enough to look forward — maybe for the first time. The emotions that once flattened you start to lose their grip. You'll develop a new relationship with your inner world, one built on curiosity instead of dread, and self-compassion instead of shame. Difficult feelings become something you can name, hold, and move through rather than something you white-knuckle your way around or bury entirely.
Creativity becomes more than an outlet — it becomes a compass. Art therapy opens doors that traditional talk therapy often can't, bypassing the part of your brain that overthinks, defends, and deflects, and tapping into something truer and older. You'll rediscover parts of yourself you wrote off, abandoned, or never got to meet in the first place. The version of you that exists beyond the trauma, beyond the survival strategies, beyond the noise — that person is still in there, and they have a lot to say.
Queer joy is real. It isn't some curated aesthetic or a feeling reserved for people whose lives have been easier than yours. It's specific, hard-won, and yours to claim. Let's find it together.
Queer Art Therapy That Meets You Where Words Fall Short
As a LGBTQ+ art therapist, I know firsthand that healing moves through the right side of the brain. In our work together, you'll give voice to emotions long held silent — learning to meet them with grace while building coping tools that actually work. Together we'll dismantle the walls of guilt and avoidance that no longer serve you, the ones that life constructed around you without your permission.
Authenticity to Art Therapy
As a biracial (half white, half Sri Lankan), bisexual, cis-gendered woman, I’ve always danced on the line between individualism and collectivism. Going to school for art therapy helped me realize how they can go hand-in-hand: by being our most authentic selves, we attract our people, and find our place in our community. This is what I was sorely missing in my first career as a commercial artist (I’ve got graphic design, illustration, and animation under my belt), and what I’ve found in my work as a therapist. It’s the highest honor when I can help my clients find it, too.
I hold a BA in studio art from Occidental College in Eagle Rock, CA, and my MA in Counseling: Art Therapy from Adler University in Chicago, IL. I’m an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (#19492 ) and Provisional Registered Art Therapist (#25-431) under supervision of Renae Johnson LPCC (#6018), ATR-BC (#16-199) and Kristen Crowe LPCC (#5451).
Creativity Outside of Therapy
I’ve poured all my stat points into creativity; ask me to do math or catch a ball and I’ll run in the other direction. Although I’ve abandoned monetizing my art for good, I am often known for creating queer fanart and fanfiction for my latest anime fandom. I also love dancing, baking, writing queer romance, and getting way too invested in my Dungeons & Dragons character backstories. When I’m not creating, I’m eating good food, sourcing a high quality matcha fix, or watching comfort TV with my spouse and my pug, Clementine.
